TWO football fans have been charged with common assault after an incident following a Brentwood Town match.
William Rees, 45, of Beraing Way, Chigwell, and Garry Gordon, 47, of Huntsman Road, Hainault, have been formally charged over the incident which happened at the Walton Stadium in Waltham-on-Thames, Surrey, on September 29.
Both have been released on bail until December 4 when they will appear at North Surrey Magistrates Court, in Staines.
The alleged incident happened at about 5.40pm on September 29 following the FA Trophy first round qualifying match between Walton & Hersham and Brentwood Town.
A supporter of the home team, believed to be in his 30s, was assaulted near the main gate of the ground as he exited about an hour after the game had finished.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to hospital for treatment to head injuries.
