Great GCSE results for our schools

ONE school in Brentwood saw all of its pupils get a least five A* to C GCSE grades in 2012.

Trinity School, in Brizes Park, saw all nine of its GCSE pupils earn the grades, which include passing English and maths.

Headteacher Rob Whitaker said it was still great to get the excellent results.

Mr Whitaker said: “We’re thoroughly delighted with the results, particularly with 2012 as there were some pupils who were in the middle grades marks who really pushed themselves.

“I think we’ve done well in recent years because we’ve opened up the admissions process at the school and also been marketing ourselves better in the area.”

Elsewhere, Brentwood School saw its percentage drop from 98 per cent in 2011 to 86 per cent in 2012.

Headteacher Ian Davies said this was due to a number of foreign students who studied at the school.

He added: “This particular Brentwood School year group included an unusually high proportion of overseas pupils who were at Brentwood to improve their English and prepare for sixth form study.

“These overseas pupils would not necessarily have taken GCSE English or would not necessarily have taken five GCSE examinations. “If these pupils are taken out of the equation, Brentwood achieved an outstanding 97 per cent of A* - C grades at GCSE.”
