7:30am Saturday 16th February 2013 in News
YOUNG musicians have finally played in a new £185,000 venue which band members hope will help them grow in stature.
The Royal British Legion Youth Band branch in Warley cut the ribbon to the band room, which has been built on the site of its old marching practice yard in The Drive.
An audience, including Brentwood and Ongar MP Eric Pickles, Lord Lieutenant of Essex Lord Petre, parents and several Brentwood councillors attended the room’s first concert. A total of £500 was raised on the night for the Brentwood Mayor’s charities.
l PLANS are being put together which would allow other groups to hire out the Royal British Legion Youth Band’s hall in Warley.
Band director John Wyndham said he is currently holding negotiations with Brentwood Council over making it possible to change the lease on the property to allow for it to be used by other groups.
