World's oldest horse dies, aged 51

Shayne Shayne

A HORSE thought to be the oldest in the world has died at the age of 51.

Shayne, lived at the Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary, near Ingatestone, for the last ten years of its life and hit national headlines last year when it was discovered he could be the oldest horse in the world.

He has been cremated and Sue Burton, the sanctuary’s founder, said his death is “devastating”.

She said: “He was such a lovely horse with such a character and showed how good a horse of this age could look. He will be greatly missed.”
