Hearn backs hospice's bid to boost business skills

PUPILS from Brentwood will be encouraged to show entrepreneurial skills as part of a charity scheme backed by sports promoter Barry Hearn.
St Francis Hospice is running its second Matchroom Sport Apprentice Team Challenge for Hospice Care after its first event, which ran from September to last month, proved successful.
The project, known as Match, is supported by South Weald-based businessman Mr Hearn and gives teams of students, aged between 14 and 18, £250 to start up a venture and run it for six months.
Members of the team which performs best win an iPad3 each, along with the chance for work experience at both the hospice in Havering and Matchroom Sport.
Mr Hearn said: “The students can develop their business skills and team working and hopefully the hospice will gain funds from any profit the young entrepreneurs make.
“The students from the first Match have impressed me with their professionalism and dedication and I look forward to the next Match being a success.”
