Skate park revamp right on track

SKATERS celebrated the opening of the second of three sections being revamped at a skatepark in Brentwood.
The street section of the facility in King George’s Playing Fields was officially opened on Friday after undergoing a £50,000 refurbishment.
The section includes a stair set, rails, grind ledges and blended quarter pipe for skateboarders and bike riders to test their skills on.
Funding for the scheme was given by Brentwood Council, Veolia Environmental Trust and Brentwood Skatepark Association who were set up with the aim of improving facilities at the park.
Rob MacGowan, chairman of the association, said: “I am thrilled with Brentwood Skatepark's Phase Two and I am extremely pleased to see how many more new young people are using it.”
Following the completition of the street section, work will progress to the final stage of the redevelopment with a park area set to be built.
A bowl section was the first secction to be completed in the revamp.
