Police expanding manhunt for Navestock shooter
2:30pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
Detectives are turning their focus to sites in Hertfordshire and London as they search for a gunman wanted for attempted murder in Navestock.
Francis O’Donoghue is wanted for attempted murder after shooting two of his neighbours at a travellers site in Goatswood Lane on Tuesday afternoon.
It is thought the 27-year-old might be hiding out with other travellers outside of Essex with officers looking at sites in Hertfordshire and London.
Supt Trevor Roe said: "We are working with all UK police forces, and especially the Metropolitan Police and Hertfordshire, to ensure they keep a look out for Francis.
"Again, we would urge anyone who knows him to avoid him purely because he is in possession of a handgun and those who come into contact with him should call us immediately.
"There is nothing though to suggest that people in the wider community are at risk of being injured."
The two men who were shot in the incident which took place at about 3.30pm on Tuesday are said to be recovering well in hospital from leg and chest wounds.
O'Donoghue is described as being white, approximately 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build with short-brown hair, protruding ears and speaks with an Irish accent.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of O'Donoghue is urged to call 999.
Police have also asked for anyone with information about the shooting to contact detectives at Harlow’s Major Investigation Team by calling 101, emailing SCDappeals@essex.pnn.police.uk or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
