BRENTWOOD Brewing Company has moved into new premises in Pilgrims Hatch.

The firm - a favourite with the borough’s MP Eric Pickles - has relocated its brewery to Calcott Hall Farm, off Ongar Road.

It was previously located at Frieze Hall Farm in South Weald.

The team has already produced the first batch of beer in the new premises - ten barrels, or about 2,800 pints, of its award winning Chockwork Orange.

Head brewer Sophie de Ronde said: “"The move means day to day brewing will be easier and we can brew much more beer.

"We had four fermenters but now we'll have two more which means we have the capacity to brew six days per week.”

Once work on the new visitor centre is complete, the team will be holding Brewery Experience Days, arranging special events and welcoming over-the-counter customers, who can watch progress in the brewhouse as they buy their favourite brews.

Roland Kannor, Brentwood Brewing Company managing director, said: "Moving the brewery has been keeping us all extra busy.

“For the next few weeks our focus has to be on beer making so that we can fulfil our orders and keep up with customer demand.

"We're looking forward to opening our doors to visitors but we still have some work to do in settling into our new home.

“We're planning to hold open days and launch events soon."

Brentwood Brewing Company ales are also available at 39 Essex-based Chelmsford Star Co-operative stores.

The brewery has been brewing beer in Brentwood since July 2006.
