A CROSS made up of ten different panel paintings is being displayed in Brentwood Cathedral over Christmas.
Artist Brian Whelan created the artwork called the Brentwood Cross especially for the Roman Catholic cathedral.
Each of the ten panels making up the work features a story or saint mentioned in the Bible.
With the piece staying in the building during Advent, the painter said it will make for interesting viewing to parishioners.
Mr Whelan said: “Most people view paintings from left to right but you don’t read a cross in a conventional way.
“You can go from top to bottom, from right to left or start with the Madonna in the centre.
“It brings a fresh experience to viewing the paintings.”
