Dementia sufferers and carers offered help in Brentwood

Brentwood Weekly News: Dementia sufferers and carers offered help in Brentwood Dementia sufferers and carers offered help in Brentwood

A CHARITY who run a day club to help people with dementia are encouraging sufferers and their carers to join their group.

Crossroads Care Brentwood, Basildon and Districts runs the weekly day clubs in the borough for those with the condition.

However, despite NHS research showing support is needed in Brentwood for dementia sufferers, the charity says they are struggling to get people attending the groups.

The clubs are moving to The Gables in Essex Way, Warley, from next month and staff from the charity are urging those with the condition to get in touch.

Project manager Sheena Philip said: "Despite us knowing there are people around the Brentwood area dealing with the effects of memory loss or Early Onset Dementia without expert support, they are not seeking the support that we can offer them and that’s a real concern."

For more information about the service, call the charity on 01277 201789.
