SPINNER Shane Shillingford has been suspended by the International Cricket Council because of an illegal bowling action.
The West Indies player who played for Brentwood CC in 2008 was told by the governing body his right arm exceeded the allowed 15 degrees of tolerance at release of the ball.
Laws of the game say cricketers must bowl with a straight arm although a degree of allowance is given.
Shillingford, 30, who is from Dominica, has played 14 tests matches for the West Indies including two in their current tour of New Zealand.
He has taken 65 wickets in his test career and will not have the ban uplifted until fresh analysis of his action shows Shillingford has remedied the problem.
