Brentwood Weekly News: Hunt for Shenfield shooter ongoing Hunt for Shenfield shooter ongoing

THE masked gunman who shot a city broker at Shenfield station is still on the loose.

Dad-of-four Robin Clark, 44, remains in hospital as he recovers from being shot in the thigh almost two weeks ago.

Police say they are chasing a number of leads, but have so far not made any arrests.

Over the weekend, friends of Clark - described as a "very successful broker" and "a bit of a party animal" - took to Twitter to wish him well.

Magnus Wheatley said: “Hey Rob, get well soon mate. Best broker I ever worked with. Best wishes, Mags.”

John Tipper said: “Hope your feeling better Robin sorry to hear of your problems. Get better soon, John.”

Last week, Mr Clark - known to his friends as Clarky - told how he thought it "was going to be the end" after a gunman shot him at 5.45am on Friday, January 24, as he and a friend arrived at Shenfield station to catch a train to work.

He said: “As he got nearer I tried to focus to see if it was someone I knew or if they were coming up to me to say 'hello Clarky'.

"They came straight at me but no words were said. There was no 'have that' - nothing at all."

Clark's friend, who owned the Ford S-Max that the pair had travelled to the station in, then called 999.

Mr Clark, who works for city firm RP Martin, was taken to Basildon Hospital.

Police have also been trying to work out a motive behind the attack. Clark, who lives near Stock, near Billericay, said he doesn't know why anyone would want to hurt him.

In April 2013, the broker was hit with a £14,653 county court judgement in favour of the taxman - with the debt still marked as unpaid, according to the public register.

He is also renting out the £2million mansion in Hereward Mount, Stock, bought by him and estranged wife Thea Clark for £1.67million in 2004.
