TEAMS of fundraisers from Brentwood got dirty in aid of St Francis Hospice.

The charity based in Havering-atte-Bower hosted their Mud and Madness day at Stubbers Adventure Centre in North Ockendon.

The event sees people tackling a number of army style drills over a 7.5km course with activities including kayaking and archery.

Among the 120 participants were a group from Mountnessing and Ingatestone Netball Club who raised £1,000 for the hospice.

One team member, Helen Gallagher, said: "We decided to take part because we are always looking for a challenge and are keen to support local charities.

"We know Saint Francis Hospice provides amazing support, empowering families affected by life-limiting illness with its medical support."

Also rolling around in the mud were Mandy Fox and Tony Davison from South Weald-based Matchroom Sport.
