PUPILS from Brentwood County High School helped Brentwood's mayor raise the Commonwealth flag on Wednesday for a special event.

Madeline Henwood sent the flag up the pole outside Town Hall in Ingrave Road as part of Fly A Flag for Commonwealth Day.

During the ceremony, pupils from the school based nearby in Seven Arches Road attended the event with Sixth Form student Ross Palmer reading out the Commonwealth Affirmation.

Afterwards, Mrs Henwood said: "We were proud to be part of this unique event, which showed Brentwood’s commitment and recognised the contribution to the Commonwealth."
