Charity curry night in Kelvedon Hatch run by our George
1:00pm Monday 17th March 2014 in News
A CHARITY curry evening has been organised by Weekly News reporter George Thorpe ahead of his London Marathon run.
On Sunday April 6, our George will be holding the event at Bongow in Swan Lane, Kelvedon Hatch, as he continues his fundraising efforts for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
A week later the 27-year-old will be taking part in the London Marathon for the first time and has a fundraising target of £2,000.
For £20 per person, diners will be treated to poppadoms, a selection of chicken and lamb curries for mains, rice, vegetables and naan bread.
A raffle is also being held on the night along with live entertainment, which is yet to be confirmed.
George, who lives in Maldon, said: “My parents’ house is literally a minutes walk away from Bongow and having eaten there on several occasions I can tell you the food is brilliant and the staff are superb.
“So it made perfect sense to hold a fundraising event there ahead of my 26.2 mile run the following Sunday.
“People who have already eaten at Bongow will now what a top place it is and this is a great chance for others to sample the delights of the restaurant for what I personally promise will be a great night.
“Helen Rollason was a groundbreaking sports journalist and a local girl too so I’m hoping we can really whip up some support for the charity which now bares her name.”
Booking is essential and for more details either visit www.facebook.com/events/745558425465261/?notif_t=plan_user_joined or call George on 07970 328498.
