A DEAL thought to be in the region of £650,000 to redevelop a historic Brentwood town centre building has fallen through.
An agreement between Brentwood Council and building firm Cadena has collapsed for Old House in Shenfield Road.
Plans for the grade-II listed building which was built in 1748 had included converting it into bars, restaurants and flats.
Council leader Louise McKinlay said: "I am disappointed that the company felt they could no longer continue with their plans for the Old House.
"They have stated a number of factors for their decision including the extent of work that the building required and the economic climate."
