A BUILDING society branch in Shenfield has split £1,000 between three charities.

Staff at Yorkshire Building Society in Hutton Road gave £500 to Warley-based Marillac Care, £300 to Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Sawyers Hall Lane and £200 to the Hamelin Trust, based in Billericay.

The money was handed out to the charities after customers of the branch were asked to decide which organisation they would like to see the cash go to.
