I feel almost sorry for them. Imagine having to spend the day meeting sycophantic local busybodies who will bore their friends at dinner parties for the next 30 years about the time they met the Queen. Everything you do watched by the gawping masses. You can never yawn or look bored or have a viewpoint. At heart, I'm a republican really, but seriously, I am glad to live the life I do and not theirs.

In a time where we spend billions on ungrateful bankers and crazy unwinnable wars, the bit that goes on maintaining this pantomime act doesn't really seem so much in the grand scheme of things.

We have Chelmsford reporter Neil Hawkins at the cathedral this morning and Braintree reporter Charlotte Austen-Hardy at Felsted school.

The last update (it is now 14:20) from our Braintree reporter was ... Oh. That's right. She HASN'T reported. The last Tweet was at 13:40, having "concluded at Chelmsford" at 13:10.

Usual utter ineptitude from the useless Brainless and Witless.

Just wish I could have a quid for every upside-down Union Jack that gets given an airing today by the Hoi Polloi Flag Waggers of Essex.

Sadly, most know nothing about heraldry and even less about their own country and its flag so wouldn't understand even if you were to explain to them why their flag was upside down!

I mean, as a shining example, take that jodrell, J Arthur above.

Here you are again, the self confessed shoplifter, costing the rest of us a fortune because people like you put the prices up. When you can come up with a convincing argument why don't you post one?

The Queen and royals costs the taxpayers (obviously not a waster like you) something like 64p a year and gives good value for money as a major employer, tourism booster and great ambassador for this country.

The ghastly EU on the other hand costs the taxpayer thousands, for a start there's the £55m a day bill for just being a member, then the endless bailouts and the cost to this country of not controlling its own borders.

Meanwhile, what do YOU give to society? That's right. Zilch.

You say you don't pay for anything as your career is nicking others' property so if anybody is a scrounger it's you.

Belt up now, you're boring everybody with this constant self aggrandisement - and you are nothing but a nasty little self confessed ne'er do well who thinks it's OK for old ladies to have their homes burgled. What was it you said you didn't like the police getting the upper hand.

I might agree with that statement in some instances, especially when they are wasting their time and public money investigating innocent people while miscreants like you just blatantly do as they please.

Wind it in for God's sake. We're sick of hearing your stupid comments.

Usual numbskull comments above, just say it because everybody else is saying it and it sounds good.

Read my first reply to self confessed miscreant Adrenaline Junkie above and additionally to that, I suppose you'd prefer an unelected president. Well here's news for you, you've got one, called Herman Van Rompuy of Brussels, he's paid more than Obama - and there's his right hand woman, Cathy Ashton, a boilersuited Greenham Common refugee on a similar phone number salary - then a whole host of EU commissioners that nobody elected, all milking our taxes both directly and indirectly.

But then people like you don't actually do any research do you because if you did you would also find out the alternatives to the Queen as head of state.

Tony Blair for instance, how would you like that warmongering traitor and his avaricious wife as figureheads?

Every country has a figure head of some sort. Look around the world at some of the dangerous, crimiinal scumbags that are leaders/presidents and you will see we are quite lucky.

If you don't like this country and its culture - and the way it's run - you don't have to live here

But then again you are also the sort that won't bother to vote on election day either. Just b1tch about it on here, rip people to shreds whom you know nothing about and spout a lot of nonsense.

Go away and look at other so called world leaders and figureheads. Look at the despots and dictators - including those in the EU commission that you haven't bothered to research - and see how much of your money they are creaming off in both EU subsidies and foreign aid.

... and the significance of that is? It is to show that Scotland, through the placement of the St. Andrews Cross takes precedence or outranks the St Patrick's cross representing Ireland. Ireland became part of the UK after Scotland.

There is substantial evidence to contradict the common perception about the use of the word "Jack" as opposed to "Flag". As recently as last year this differentiation was again disputed by the Flag Institute. And they are the final arbiter in these matters!
