ENVIROMENTAL Health Officers from Brentwood Council were out around the borough last week with Essex Police in an operation to prevent fly-tipping.
Stop checks were made on 18 vehicles and drivers were informed that they need to carry a waste transfer notice and a license to transport and dispose of any commercial waste they carry.
Seven of the vehicles were found to not be carrying the correct documentation. Officers will now investigate these cases to determine whether further action is needed.
The council plans to run a similar operation soon.
The operation was part of the first countywide Clean Essex Campaign, which was launched last Monday, June 2.
Brentwood has joined 13 local authorities across Essex taking a unique approach to tackling litter by joining forces with fast food giants McDonalds, KFC and Dominos.
They are being supported by Keep Britain Tidy, Essex County Council, RP2 media and The Highways Agency to raise awareness of litter and the risk of fines for those that offend.
