FOUR Brentwood Air Cadets were recognised at a prestigious county-wide Jack Petchey ceremony.

Jack Scrutton, Elliot Wood, Joe Demetriou and Lauren Cairns, all aged 16, were the cadets winners from the 1483 squadron based at Rose Valley.

They received medallions at the ceremony held at the Civic Theatre, Chelmsford, to go with £200 and a certificate.

Jack Scrutton, pictured, had been nominated for the achievement award by his peers and the squadron leaders in tribute to the self-less attitude, the compassion and leadership he has shown towards his three siblings – one of whom is a foster sister.

The £200 Joe received from the foundation has been added to money received by another of the group’s winners to purchase a new canoe for the Brentwood Air Cadets.

The four were among 92 young people from 25 groups in Essex who received prestigious Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards Mark Richardson, an Olympic silver medallist and former World Champion 400m relay runner, attended the event on Monday, June 21.
