TRIBUTES have poured in for a man from Romford who died in a horror crash on the A12 near Brentwood.

Ronnie Marshall, 26, was the passenger in a white water company van when it was involved in a collision with a lorry near the Brook Street roundabout at about 5.45am on Thursday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the van was taken to hospital with injuries and discharged the same day. No other injuries were reported.

Friends and family left messages on Mr Marshall’s Facebook page following the tragic accident.

Chris Swan said: “Rest in peace mate, we had some great times at school. Love to the entire family xx”

Rachel O’Halloran wrote: “Only the good get taken. Rest in peace Ron, always cherish the memories xx”

Mr Marshall’s brother Colin posted a picture of the two, with the message: “My little Bruv see you again one day. Love you always RIP XXX”

The smash left the eastbound side of the A12 closed for nearly eight hours between Gallows Corner and the M25 following the incident.

Met Police are now appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Detective Sergeant Cheryl Frost of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Alperton Traffic Garage, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision, or the events leading up to this collision to speak to police.

"The A12 is a major London route and would have been busy with traffic, even at this time of the morning. If you saw anything, please contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 0208 991 9555.
