A FORMER Brentwood School student is set to follow in the footsteps of the biggest names in British acting after being awarded a scholarship to a world-renowned London drama college.

Lewis Bruniges, 19, will follow alumni such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Jim Broadbent when he attends the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art later this year.

Lewis secured the three-year scholarship from the Genesis Foundation, an arts charity affiliated with the college.

Only one is given each year to an actor or actress with “exceptional talent”.

What makes his achievement even greater is that whilst auditioning he had to performing in front of world-renowned starlets Dame Janet Suzman and Olivier Award-winning actress the one-and-only Patricia Hodge.

The scholarship will cover Lewis’ full tuition fee of £9,000 a year as well as a £6,000 maintenance grant each year.

A thrilled Lewis said: “It’s a strange feeling to have some form of confirmation from outstanding professionals in the field I hope to enter into that perhaps I can one day act and act well.”
