MORE than 500 people crammed into the Brentwood Centre recently to help raise more than £10,000 for St Francis Hospice.
General knowledge fans were taking part in the charity’s third Big Yellow Quiz and were joined by TV’s Egghead Barry Simmons.
Participants were tested on a range of subjects including the local area, spelling, and musical knowledge.
They also had to use their senses in a round called “what a pong” where they were asked to name the powder contained in a series of test tubes.
The winning team was Harold Wood Tank Corps.
The hospice provide specialist medical care and emotional support to people with needs related to a life-limiting illness.
Katy Woodgate, event organiser, said the night was great fun and a huge financial success.
