A COUPLE were threatened by a man with a knife in Bishops Hall Park.

The man and woman, both in their 30s, were walking their dog in the park near the basketball court when they were approached

At first the man started swearing at them before brandishing a kitchen knife.

They ran away, went home and called police.

Investigating officer Ps Alex Black said: "The man has been described as being stocky, white, around 35-years-old and had short, shaved blond hair.

"He was wearing a plum coloured jumper and dark jeans.

"He was walking a white staffie type dog.

"A similar incident happened a few days before when a woman was walking her dog in the park and was sworn at by a man of a similar description.”

The assault on the couple happened at about 7.20pm on Monday.
