AN 11-year-old caught the attention of council bosses with his enthusiastic letter about what facilities should be included on any William Hunter Way development.

Alex Kensit, from Shenfield, had given his ideas for what he wanted to see on the site long before the public consultation went live earlier this month.

Enthusiastic Alex wrote to the council with his hopes for the future of the Brentwood and his views on what should be included in the project, including the long talked about cinema.

After reading the letter, Leader Councillor Barry Aspinell was keen to meet Alex to talk about the project and other aspects of living in the borough, having recently moved to the area.

Along with his mum Michelle and brother Max, Alex was given a tour of the council chambers before having a chat with Mr Aspinell.

Mr Aspinell said: “I was really impressed by Alex and his knowledge of the history of William Hunter Way, his interest in the Local Development Plan and his enthusiastic questioning about the role of Brentwood Council and our Councillors.

“I would like to thank him again for taking the time to write the council a letter and for leading the way in responding to the William Hunter Way consultation.”

Alex added: “I really loved it because it was a chance to get my voice heard, and I found out a lot about how the council works. Other people should get involved because it’s their chance to say what they would like in Brentwood."
