A 26-year-old man from Brentwood has been released on police bail pending further enquiries into the rape of a woman in the town on Sunday morning.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have seen a woman described as being aged in her 20s, white, with black hair, wearing a white top and jeans, in the town centre on the evening of Saturday, September 27, and early hours of Sunday, September 28.
The rape is believed to have happened at around 1am on Sunday in the Coptfold Road and South Street area.
The man has been released on bail until November 27.
