MORE than 3,000 people have taken part in a consultation on future plans for William Hunter Way.
People have commented in their droves on what they would like to see the town centre car park site transformed into.
So far the council has counted 3,000 responses, but Brentwood First councillor Russell Quirk said the number of consultations received could be more than 4,000, making it biggest consultation response the council has ever received.
The deadline for people to have their say has been extended to November 5, following complaints from some residents that they had not received a letter.
The next meeting of the William Hunter Way Working Group will be on Monday, November 10 at 7pm, when members of the group are likely to be given a broad outline of the online consultation responses.
Ideas for the site will then be put forward in January.
William Lloyd, deputy leader of Brentwood Council, said: “I would hope that between January and May we would have outlined what we wanted to do with the site.
“Then hopefully we can have a deal signed by May.”
Proposals for a cinema and a food court to the site, fell through in February.
