The characters’ appearance is just one of the many exciting things happening in 2014’s Lighting Up Brentwood.

The fun starts from 12noon with a variety of the usual array of exciting market stalls and fantastic street performers, this year’s event includes three stages with local entertainment, Santa’s Grotto and sleigh, children’s rides and the traditional candle-lit parade.

The event is sponsored by the Baytree Centre and Papa John’s Pizza, Brentwood.

This year will also see a Lighting Up Shenfield event which will be taking place on Sunday, November 30 from 2pm to 5pm.

There will be a variety of Christmas activities provided by local businesses in Hutton Road, as well as a stage, entertainment and stalls near the library. The Shenfield Lights will be switched on at 4.30pm.

Karen Chilvers, chairman of the Community Committee, said: "Christmas is about spending time with family and that is why it is so important to us that Lighting Up is a real family event.

"We really want to put the Christmas spirit in Brentwood and Shenfield this year with a bit of extra sparkle thanks to our new Christmas lights.

"We have worked really hard to make sure there is something for everyone who comes along and I would like to thank our team at the Town Hall and our sponsors for their support and enthusiasm for our annual event."
