The family of a man who died after being hit by a car on the A12 have paid tribute to him, saying "he will be cherished in every heart he touched".
Derek Andrew Smith, 38, a father from Brentwood, died at the scene, around one mile from Brook Street roundabout, after the collision on Sunday, November 9.
Officers were called shortly after 11pm following reports that a silver BMW 5 series was in collision with a pedestrian who was believed to be walking along the road.
Derek's family issued a hearfelt tribute to him on Wednesday.
The joint statement read: "A heart felt tribute to Derek Andrew Smith, who was a father, a son, a brother, a partner, a friend, an uncle and moreover a beautiful person.
"He will be sorely missed, never forgotten and cherished in every heart he touched. God bless him and may he rest in peace."
An inquest into the death of Derek was opened on Monday.
