A RESERVIST from Warley has celebrated 30 years of Territorial Army service.

Peter Brace initially joined the TA in 1985 and trained to become a solider, before returning from his training as a driver in the Royal Corps of Transport.

Two years later, he changed his focus to catering within the military and was transferred to the Army Catering Corps.

Peter was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and served with the Queens Lancashire Regiment and 3 Medical Regiment as master chef, feeding more than 1,800 soldiers in Basra.

Peter now works as the squadron sergeant major at 220 Medical Squadron, part of 254 Medical Regiment, based at Warley Army Reserve Centre.

The centre is holding an open day on January 31.
