Front-line ambulance staff have been praised for their professionalism and “superb” care in the latest patient survey.
More than 120 patients who called 999 in October completed questionnaires with 98.2% very satisfied or satisfied with the service they received.
“Very attentive,” “exceptional”, “wonderful” and “very professional, polite and friendly” were just some of the comments that came from patients who received emergency medical care from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST).
The latest patient experience report, published this week, also revealed that 96.5% of respondents said the time they waited for ambulance staff to arrive was very acceptable, acceptable or fairly acceptable.
More than 90% said they felt they were involved in the decisions made about their care and 93.9% also described the comfort of their ambulance journey as very comfortable, comfortable, or fairly comfortable.
Anthony Marsh, EEAST chief executive, said: “I’m delighted with these results, which is testament to how dedicated and caring our front-line staff are in people’s hour of need.”
“This report shows that the vast majority of patients find the time they wait for an ambulance as acceptable. However, we know we have more to do to improve our response times.
"We hired more than 400 student paramedics last year and we will look to recruit hundreds more this year to improve patient care.”
