IMPROVEMENT works to the Brook Street roundabout junction at the M25 are set to be completed by the end of May.

At junctions 11-12, a northbound carriageway closure began last night and will last for up to two weeks. The current phase of work is due to be completed by, Saturday March 14, when the contraflow will switch to the northern section of the southbound carriageway.

This will require two nights of closures on March 14 and 15 between 9pm and 6am.

During this time, a signed diversion route will be in place from junction 11 (Brook Street) via the A1023 and back onto the A12 at junction 12 (Mountnessing).

The main work will be carried out at night using contraflow, so the road remains open. During the day the road will be open with two lanes operating in both directions.

The work is dependent on suitable weather conditions, and dates may be subject to change.

Highways Agency’s project manager for the scheme, Anna Graham, said: “The improvements will finish later than anticipated because of the weather and additional work which we didn’t anticipate.

“We found the road was in a worse state of repair than originally thought, so we have had to plane out more to compensate. “We apologise for the delay and I’d like to thank drivers for their patience while this work continues and ask drivers to take care travelling through the roadwork’s and adhere to the 40mph speed limit.”
