About 100 cannabis plants have been seized from an address in Ongar High Street.
The plants were found after a search was carried out at the address on Wednesday.
Officers were called by the electricity company when engineers executed a warrant and found that power supplies to the property had been tampered with.
A large quantity of hydroponic equipment was also seized.
No one was at the address at the time of the search and enquiries are continuing to establish who was responsible for the cannabis crop.
Anyone with information should contact the investigating officer Pc Rachael Tappenden on 101.
