THREE men, including one from Brentwood, were viciously attacked in a Chelmsford street in the early hours of the morning.

Collectively, the men suffered broken bones, including a fractured jaw, and were punched and stamped on during an attack which started outside Chicago Rock Cafe and moved to Baddow Road, near Pizza Express.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the row, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, March 15.

Officers were called to Moulsham Street at 2.40am following a disturbance involving a group of people.

A 25-year-old man, from the Brentwood, was approached from behind and suffered a fractured jaw after he was punched in the face and his head was stamped on.

A 30-year-old man from Chelmsford was also approached from behind and punched in the face, his jaw was broken too.

And a 28-year-old man from Maldon was also approached from behind, dragged to the ground and suffered a broken arm.

Two men, aged 23 and 36, from Chelmsford, were arrested in connection with the incident, and have been bailed until May 7, pending further enquiries.

Inspector Chris Kilgallen, of Essex Police, said: “To stop yourself becoming a victim of any crime the important thing is to remain aware and vigilant at all times.

“If your gut instinct tells you something doesn’t feel right – it probably isn’t.

“Learn to trust that instinct and take yourself away from suchasituation at the earliest opportunity.

Actively avoid any confrontational situation.”
