KENNY MILLER hopes he will finally be accepted by the fans having helped bring success back to Rangers.

The striker knows he was an unpopular signing when returning to Ibrox last summer for a second spell at the club, having spent a year with Celtic.

And he knew it would take time and hard work to win over the supporters who opposed his return and jeered him in the early part of the season.

Those jeers turned to cheers when Miller helped Rangers clinch a domestic double by adding the Homecoming Scottish Cup to the SPL title.

Speaking of the moment when fans chanted his name after the 1-0 win over Falkirk, Miller said: "It means a lot.

"To come back to the club after where I played before was always going to be hard.

"But I think success was always going to bring different views.

"This season has been a big success for us, getting the league back and the Scottish Cup."

Elsewhere, Falkirk managing director George Craig has admitted he'd find it difficult to deny John Hughes the chance to further his career at a bigger club.

But he is desperate to keep his manager for next season.

Hughes, who steered the Bairns clear of relegation, has been linked with vacant posts at Aberdeen and his boyhood heroes Hibs.

Craig said: "John has worked closely with me and understood the difficulties and pressures I've got in running us as a business.

"John is ambitious and if he gets a chance to further his career elsewhere, It would be a hard to stand in his way.

"But he is the Falkirk manager and, hopefully, we can plan the future together.

"Hibs and Aberdeen? I would say there could be a lot of clubs watching the performance at Hampden and saying Who is the guy responsible for that?' "They are going to look at John and say he is a top, top manager. He is and deserves every accolade and I hope we are working together next year."
