ESSEX’S ‘Royal’ town crier has once again announced the birth of a royal baby.

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a girl this morning at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Standing on the steps of the Lindo Wing, Tony Appleton told the waiting crowds the royal news.

Wearing his full town crier costume with a bell and proclamation scroll in hand the town crier announced the royal arrival to waiting crowds outside the hospital.

Mr Appleton of Baddow Road, Great Baddow first hit the headlines in 2013 when he announced the birth of Prince George.

Kensington Palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.

“The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London at 6am this morning.

The princess is fourth in line to the throne.
