Schoolchildren were thrilled to meet author Alex Woolf as part of the Brentwood School Book Club and Young Novelists’ Club.
Mr Woolf, whose books are mainly written for children and young adults, used interactive workshops and an informal talk, to inspire pupils to develop their writing skills.
The school’s budding young writers were enthralled to learn what inspired the author to choose writing as a career and how he went about creating his amazing stories.
Pupils enjoyed expert guidance in characterisation, setting, and plot development and came away from the session motivated to continue writing their own short stories.
English teacher, Miss Sian Browett, said: “Our pupils all really enjoyed the visit and Mr Woolf commended their behaviour, passion for literature and creative writing skills. The pupils were thrilled.
"They came away with 21 of his books between them too!"
