Staff and pupils at Brentwood Preparatory School are today celebrating the release of an outstanding set of National Curriculum KS2 SATs results – the second best set of marks in 15 years.

Headmaster Jason Whiskerd said the exceptional results far exceeded national averages and paid testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole school community including teachers, pupils and parents.

He said: “This is very good news. Our target of a three-year average of 75% has been well and truly achieved! In addition to the Key Stage 2 SATs results, our Key Stage 1 results are the best on record.”

The outstanding results saw an average of 81% of pupils attain Level 5, or above, in English Reading, English SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and Mathematics, with a record number of pupils gaining the top Level 6 award.

Mr Whiskerd added: “This is a good way to end our association with SATs and a tremendous boost for all parents, pupils and staff, as we go into the summer break.”

The Government has set a national target of Level 4 in English and Mathematics for all Year 6 pupils.
