MP Sir Eric Pickles and hospice mascot Frankie the Lion officially re-opened the Saint Francis Hospice general shop in Brentwood High Street.

The ceremony followed a refurbishment and also marked the start of Hospice Care Week that runs from 5th to 11th October.

The shop has undergone a makeover and is lighter and brighter as new lighting has been installed and the store has been given a fresh lick of paint.

Performing the ribbon cutting ceremony Sir Eric Pickles MP said: “Saint Francis Hospice is a long-term friend of Brentwood and lots of local people fundraise for the hospice with great affection.

"It’s great to see the new improved shop that is lighter, brighter and more energy efficient!”

Michelle Nicholls, General Manager Retail said; “I’m really pleased that the people of Brentwood continue to give us so many donations and shop at our two retail units in Brentwood High Street.

"Please do keep supporting us and if it isn’t easy to get to the shops please use one of our many drop spots all across the local area.

"When donating goods please gift aid them as then get an extra 25 pence from the government for every pound that we raise by selling the donated goods.

"If you don’t know how to do this have a look at our website (sfh.org.uk) or ask in any of our shops.”
