A COMEDY Bingo Night has raised £1,720 for Brentwood Children’s Charity SNAP.

More than 100 people attended the event at Shenfield Parish Hall and were entertained by special guest Skittleman, who got the audience going.

Brentwood Mayor Mark Reed also made a special guest appearance as a guest caller for one of the rounds of bingo. Mr Reed said: “I should have known from where my team's table was placed, directly opposite the compere, that I was in for a night that would keep me on my toes.

“I have not played Bingo in years and armed with the Bingo sheets and dibber provided by SNAP, I was looking forward to seeing if I could score a line or Full House.

“But I was not prepared for the comedy by our host, Skittleman, who kindly provided his services to SNAP free of charge. “Whenever 50 came up we a had to stand and dance to Hawaii Five - 0, for 17 it was ABBA's Dancing Queen.

“Other fun forfeits and competitions cropped up, and I even had the chance to call a round.

“In all, a fantastic £1,720 pounds was raised thanks to the hard work of the fantastic team at SNAP and to a sold-out room of volunteers.”

All of the money raised will go towards continuing the work SNAP does supporting Essex families who have children and young people with any special need or disability.

If you would like to find out more about SNAP and meet members of the team, drop-in to their Coffee, Cake and Catch-up event on Wednesday, November 4, between 11am and 2pm at The SNAP Centre.
