The Brentwood School music department entertained crowds with a 'mesmerising' Michaelmas Concert at the Wessex Auditorium.

The first half kicked off with the School Band who performed 'Faure Meets Guetta', directed by Will Stock.

The School Choir then sang two songs from the Remembrance Service in the Cathedral the week before, with solos from Upper Sixth students Hannah Ambrose and Oliver Valentini.

In the run up to the interval the world famous Brentwood School Big Band left no toes untapped as they wowed the crowd with Count Basie and George Gershwin numbers.

The smooth vocals of Lower Sixth soloist Sophie Skinner once again proved a perfect match for the myriad of brass behind her.

The audience returned for a debut from the angelic and newly-formed Junior Choir, directed by Mr Florian Cooper, who performed Mary Mary I Worship You with solos from First Years Rosie Parrish and Nicole Fergus.

Mr Stock returned to direct the sizeable String Orchestra, led by 1st violinist Peter Scott, Lower Sixth, and the final performance saw the always wonderful Sinfonia play the Oberon Overture and two movements from R.

Vaughan Williams' English Folk Songs. Director of Music Mrs Hilary Khoo rightly accepted a long round of applause with all the pupils and thanked everyone for their continued support.

After the concert, on parent tweeted: "What a brilliant performance by the students at Michaelmas Concert @Brentwood_Sch ! It was mesmerising!
