Four more exciting acts have been announced for this summer's Brentwood Festival.

Legendary British R&B band, Soul II Soul, will headline the 2016 Brentwood Festival on Friday, 15 July while 80s band ABC will be taking to the stage to support Tony Hadley and the Boomtown Rats on the Sunday.

Soul II Soul is best known for their massive 80’s and 90’s hits Back To Life, Keep On Movin and Get A Life while ABC, fronted by lead singer Martin Fry, racked up a string of UK Top 10 hits in the 1980’s including The Look of Love, Poison Arrow, Be Near Me and When Smokey Sings.

By popular demand, two local favourites, The Dualers and Missing Andy, return for Saturday night.

The Dualers are a 9 piece ska/reggae band from South East London, who hit the headlines when their single Kiss on the Lips stormed in to the UK top 30.

Their performances at the O2 Indigo regularly sell out.

Tyber Cranstoun, lead singer for The Dualers, said: "We’re really excited to be back on the main stage at Brentwood.

"It’s one of our favourite events, the crowd is just amazing.

"Our set will introduce some of the tracks off our new album, ‘Reggae Street’ as well as all of the reggae and ska classics.”

Essex-based band Missing Andy, who are about to kick off their 2016 reunion tour, will take to the festival stage on July 16. Their Britpop, mod-influenced set will feature hits like Feel Like This, Mr Policeman and Money.

Festival Director, Jason Jopson, said: “We pay a lot of attention to the feedback and suggestions from our regular festivalgoers and think we’ve come up with a 2016 line up that will make everyone happy.

"Friday will be our usual fun, party night; Saturday will spotlight ska and pop; and Sunday will be an 80s rewind for the whole family.”

The name of the main headliner for Saturday will be released soon.

Festival Co-ordinator, Laurie Edmonds says: “The Brentwood Festival keeps going from strength to strength.

"We expect our largest crowds to date this summer but the whole festival team will be working hard to keep the chilled atmosphere that our audience loves.

"On Friday, after the Soul II Soul set, we’ll be throwing a free after party for ticketholders.

"For the last 2 years we’ve had DJs Tony Smith and Pete Lacey, spinning 70’s and 80’s classics, keeping everyone dancing in the marquee until after midnight.

"This year, we’re going the run the after party even longer, until 1am.

"It’s such a great night out and even the police and security have joined in, throwing a few shapes of their own!”

The Brentwood Festival also includes free parking, overnight camping, VIP area, luxury loos, free children’s activities, market stalls, street food, real ale from Brentwood Brewing Company and funfair rides.

Held every year in aid of charity, the festival has raised over £160,000 for local and national organisations, including SNAP, Little Havens, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, and Saint Francis Hospice.

The festival box office will open on February 14, with discounted early bird tickets on offer for 14 days. Passes will be on sale at www.brentwoodfestival.co.uk.
