BAKING guru Mary Berry is expected to cook up a storm at Hylands House as she opens the National Flower Show.

The popular television presenter will visit the city on Friday, May 20, where she will officially declare the show open to the public.

She will also judge a new feature, the Royal Celebration floral art competition, which will see participants create floral birthday cakes.

The show will run between May 20 and Sunday, May 22, and visitors will be treated to an abundance of outdoor, home and garden shopping opportunities, demonstrations and displays as more than 250 exhibitors take over the estate's grounds.

Chelmsford-based home and garden experts, Modern Mint will also feature at the show selling a unique range of eco-friendly garden equipment and furniture.

Show director, Matthew Upson stated “We are thrilled to be returning to Hylands House for the second year.

"An opportunity to bring the UK’s premiere plantsman, home and gardens exhibitors to the wonderful surroundings of Hylands House is extremely exciting.

"We are also pleased to welcome Mary Berry to open the show, she is passionate about gardening and I know enjoys her visits to our shows.”
