BADDOW Hospital has unveiled the county’s first dedicated pain management theatre.
The new theatre reflects the increasing amount of work the hospital is carrying out in the field of pain management, resulting in a recently awarded contract by leading community healthcare provider, Anglian Community Enterprise (ACE), to treat its patients from the north of the county.
Mr Philip Robarts, medical director at Baddow Hospital in West Hanningfield Road, Great Baddow, said: “This new dedicated theatre has been created to deal with nothing but patients with severe pain management issues.
“Baddow have invested £70,000 alone in a new Siemens Arcadia Varic Image Guidance C-Arm which optimises the speed and clarity of the radiological images taken by our CR imaging digital x-ray machine.
“Once the images have been taken, the C-Arm is used to deliver pain-relief injections with precision accuracy.
“Severe back pain makes up about 75 per cent of the cases we see but knee, elbow and jaw issues can also be addressed.”
Baddow Hospital’s pain management service is available to private and referred NHS patients.
