A MAN has died following a collision involving a moped and a car in Chelmsford.

The Yamaha moped and a white Vauxhall Corsa were in collision at about 10.45pm last night, Thursday June 16.

It happened on the Hatfield Peverel-bound track of the A138 between the roundabout outside Toby Carvery and the Boreham interchange.

The moped rider, a 64-year-old man from Ingatestone, died.

The Vauxhall driver and three other people in the car were not injured.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Chelmsford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in custody for questioning.

The road was closed for several hours while forensic collision investigation work was carried out.
