A NATURIST group is looking for more people to strip off and take part in their upcoming Great British Skinny Dip.

Established in Billericay 66 years ago, the Arcadians of Greenglades naturist club is a place for people of all ages, shapes and sizes to relax and enjoy the freedom of swimming, playing sports and socialising in the nude.

Susan Madden joined the club as she hated the thought of having to wear a wet costume after going swimming and has been a member of the club for about 11 years.

She said: “The club is really secluded and surrounded by trees. There’s lots going on, we play boules, there is a swimming pool and we sunbathe.

“A lot of people think being a naturist is about sex or sexuality but it’s nothing to do with that. It’s to do with the freedom of not having to wear restrictive clothes. It’s the feeling of the air on your body, of being natural and you don’t have to wear a wet costume when you get out the pool.”

With more than 100 members, the group places a huge emphasis on being a friendly, welcoming club for people to embrace the hobby and members can enjoy a heated swimming pool, clubhouse and sauna.

Now, the group is looking for more people to join them for a skinny dip, which is being featured in a Channel 4 programme about the Great British Skinny Dip, a national initiative being promoted by the British Naturism organisation.

Mrs Madden, 50, of Pitsea added: “They have come down and filmed here for the programme and might be coming back for the event.

“It’s a real family club, we have people of all ages here. Everyone is all shapes and sizes so it would be great for anyone to come along.”

Anyone is welcome to the skinny dip on September 4 but guests must contact the club in advance. Visit greenglades.org and bn.org.uk for more details.
