V FESTIVAL’S 21st anniversary kicks off this weekend with tens of thousands of festival-goers and hundreds of acts making their way to Chelmsford.

Justin Bieber will headline on Saturday (August 20), with Rihanna headlining on Sunday.

Other acts playing over the weekend include David Guetta, Sia, Kaiser Chiefs, Faithless, Little Mix, Bastille alongside hundreds of other acts during the three day festival.

Although Saturday tickets are sold out, a limited amount are available for Sunday.

Essex Highways has reminded road users of likely congestion and road closures.   

The longest delays are likely on Friday August 19 and Monday August 22 August as thousands of festival-goers arrive and leave the venue. 

Roads surrounding Hylands Park and in the local area will be closed at certain times to facilitate the safe arrival and departure of festival goers. 

In particular, Three Mile Hill/A414 will be closed from 9pm on Saturday 20 August until 5am on Sunday 21 August, and again from 9pm on Sunday until 4pm on Monday, 22 August.

A locally signed, temporary 30mph speed limit will also be in place from 6pm on Thursday, 18 August until 8pm on Monday, 22 August to maintain road safety.

Despite an outbreak of rain on Friday August 19, the MET office predicts the weekend will remain mostly dry with highs of 20 degrees and lows of around 15 degrees.
