CELEBRATE your citizenship with the Maldon district’s very first Citizen’s Day.

A day of activities and entertainment has been planned at Promenade Park, Maldon and One Place, Burnham to help residents celebrate their pride in the Maldon district.

Organised by Maldon District Council the events, on Saturday August 30, will also give the council a chance to educate residents about the services they provide and to listen to the views of residents about the work the council does and the services offered.

Leader of the council Penny Channer said: “We hope that this Citizen’s Day will enable residents to learn more about the work of their district council and our partners in a fun, friendly and informative way.

“The variety of displays and entertainment will ensure that there is something for everyone and I hope that this initiative will enable us to further improve our engagement with our residents.”

Promenade Park events: • Scenes from Shakespeare by MacTheatre from 11am to 12pm and 2pm till 3pm.

• Parade of dogs from Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue from 10am to 11am and 1pm till 2pm.

• Face painting from Freckles and Friends face painter from 1.30pm till 3pm.

• Sporting activities from Active Maldon.

• Bouncy castle from Go Bonkers Inflatable Fun.

• Wind quintet.

Displays will also be available at Promenade Park from Maldon District Council’s housing services, parks and open space team, environmental services, Maldon district community safety partnership, planning services, local strategic partnership, community sports partnership, community development, youth bus and ‘pod’, financial services.

There will be the opportunity to meet councillors and representatives from various housing services that work with the council.

One Place, Burnham, will be hosting displays from the Dengie Project Trust, Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Leisure Connection Ltd along with those from Maldon District Council’s customer services team, benefits and revenue service and one on the council’s website.
