A MAN due to appear in court over a dust-up in Brentwood High Street could not appear because of illness.
Alan Lethbridge, 29, of Colne Drive, Harold Hill, is charged with assault with battery on a paramedic.
Grays Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday morning that Mr Lethbridge had telephoned the court at 8.30am to say he would not be appearing as he was unwell.
The hearing was adjourned and unconditional bail was granted until Friday, April 9, when the case will be heard at Basildon Magistrates’ Court.
The case relates to an incident on the evening of August 13, 2009, the same night the Sugar Hut pub burnt down in the town centre.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is also looking into claims that CS spray was misused on Mr Lethbridge, on the same night as he is alleged to have attacked the paramedic.
