High Street dug up again

BRENTWOOD High Street has been dug up, just months after £7million improvement works were finished.

The scheme to improve the town centre was only completed in November, following weeks of disruption to businesses and residents.

It was believed the workers from power firm EDF had to carry out emergency repairs to underground cabling last Tuesday.

Russell Quirk, ward member for Brentwood North, said it was not a case of bad planning. He said: “Most people will think this must be down to a lack of timing between the council and EDF, but it isn’t. It’s a situation where something has gone wrong underground and they have had to put it right quickly.”
